August 2021 is a wild month, with some fairly drastic changes on the way. One highlight is that both cats and dogs will have their day this month, literally: International Cat Day falls on August 8th, and National Dog Day occurs on August 26th. In spite of the month’s ups and downs, don’t forget to take some time and celebrate the best of what you love your pet.
These are the major astrological dates for August 2021.
The new moon in Leo on August 8 pushes us to move towards what we love.
Mercury enters Virgo on August 11, which will make us more analytical and critical in our thinking.
Venus enters Libra on August 16, making relationships the focal point of the month.
Uranus begins its retrograde journey in Taurus on August 19. This planetary moonwalk will last until January 18, 2022. During this time, we’ll be embracing our uniqueness.
The seasonal blue moon in Aquarius falls on August 22 (the first Full Moon in Aquarius in 2021 was on July 23). This will urge us to lean into our originality.
The Sun moves into earthy Virgo on August 22, adding order to our lives.
Mercury swings into Libra on August 30, allowing us to find peaceful ways to express ourselves.
Aries (March 21—April 19)
Most of the time you go with the flow, but sometimes you want to be the top dog. Although it may seem as though you’re getting the rough end of the deal you made with your pet parents regarding the terms of your relationship, that isn’t true. You’re the one in charge (not your pet parents), and you dictate the schedule and rules. Consider that on August 22 and 30. You make the rules.
Taurus (April 20—May 20)
Although it is unlike you to embrace new situations, you’re finding that it’s the only way to handle August 8’s new moon and August 22’s blue moon. A move, or budding relationship with your pet parent and their significant other, may push you out of your comfort zone. However, you will make nice with their partner on August 19 and 30. There are just a few adjustments and growing pains to make along the way.
Gemini (May 21—June 20)
You’re in the mood to chill and relax at home with your pet parents, you may even want to cuddle with them in the evening or play around the house with them when Mercury enters Virgo and Libra on August 11 and 30. It will be nice to have a few moments to yourself to detox your mind and stop thinking so hard about the world around you. Enjoy the sweet nesting days of August!
Cancer (June 21–July 22)
You’re protective of your toys and bed, which means that you will be marking your area at home by taking up space in the living room where you can store and hide your toys on August 8. Being territorial of your privacy may worry your pet parents on August 11 and 16. But, they’ll see the situation from your perspective on August 19 and honor your need for seclusion and safety on August 22.
Leo (July 23—August 22)
It’s ok to want extra attention this month. You are in need of emotional declarations, and you’ll get it on August 22. The caveat is that you may act out on August 8 and 19, which will create drama at home. Instead of ignoring your pet parents when they go above and beyond, preparing your luxe dinner and taking you out on long walks, try giving them hints that you need compliments and squeaky toys instead.
Virgo (August 23—September 22)
You’re lusting over shiny new friends and wanting them to think you are cool, while taking your ride or die besties for granted. This will create friction and tension amongst your peer group on August 8 and 11, but will ultimately clear up on August 19 and 22. You will come to see that the only people you can 100% rely on are your besties. Your new pals will prove to be superficial and unreliable.
Libra (September 23—October 22)
It’s always hard to change dynamics with friends and peers, especially because you don’t want to ruffle anyone’s tail or create drama. Fortunately, August 8’s new moon and August 22’s blue moon will give you the opportunity to augment situations and relationships for the better. No one will get upset by your emotional requests, as long as you put the charm on when Venus and Mercury align with your sun on August 16 and 30.
Scorpio (October 23—November 21)
It’s time to level up your appearance, Scorpio! It’s time for a little grooming, especially before stepping out for a walk with your pet parent on August 8. Your pack will notice the subtle changes you made and even get a little jealous on August 22 of the ways you’ve evolved your look. You may even catch the eye of a special someone at the dog park on August 19.
Sagittarius (November 22—December 21)
You’re suffering from a case of the “blah’s” until mid month. Life has lost its luster, which means that you’re going to have to spice up your daily routine when Uranus begins its retrograde journey on August 19. This cosmic moonwalk will keep things unpredictable and up in the air (the way you like it). The vibe will be heightened on August 22’s blue moon, when you’ll literally take a walk on the wild side.
Capricorn (December 22—January 19)
You’re not “in love” with your pet parent’s new boo or partner. Try to get to know them better during the new moon on August 8 to create a healthy relationship. You may find that you have lots in common with them (you both like to chase birds in the park and playing catch outside) during Uranus’s backwards spin which begins on August 19. An amazing foundation will kick off during August 22’s blue moon.
Aquarius (January 20—February 18)
Emotions are running deep and heating up this month. Before you get annoyed during the new moon on August 8 and the blue moon on August 22, take a moment to calm your sentiments. Breathe deeply through the stresses that August will bring and focus on yourself. Give your pet parents the month to navigate through the tough energies. They’ll give you TLC on August 30. Be patient!
Pisces (February 19—March 20)
Love is a splendid thing this August. The Sun’s ingress into Virgo and the blue moon on August 22 is making you aware of the heartfelt sentiments that you are feeling. Perhaps a new crush will catch your eye during a walk around the neighborhood or at the dog park. Or, you’ll flirt your way into the good graces of a fellow feline/canine by purring/barking sweet words to them while you chase each other outside.
